Assessment Rubric Builder
Create a professional marking rubric for any assignment or exam: set the total marks, add weighted criteria, define your performance levels, and get a clean printable table.
Criteria and weights
Add each thing you will mark (e.g. Content, Grammar). Weights must add up to 100%.
Total: 0%
Performance levels
Edit the level names, points and descriptors. Points must be whole numbers in descending order.
| Level name | Points | Descriptor (what the student shows) |
|---|
How to use
- Type the assignment title and the total marks.
- Add criteria with weights — the total must equal 100% before the rubric can be generated.
- Adjust the performance level names and descriptors to match your class.
- Press Generate, then copy or print the rubric table.
Tips
- Keep criteria to 4–6 items — more than that makes marking slow and inconsistent.
- Give the most weight to the skill the assignment is really testing, not to presentation.
- Write descriptors as observable actions (what the student does), not vague praise.
- Share the rubric with students before they start — it improves results more than any extra lecture.
