BISP Payment Status Check Guide

The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) sends cash support to eligible families in Pakistan. This free guide shows you the three official ways to check your payment status — and helps you track your progress.

How to use this guide

  1. Keep your 13-digit CNIC number ready.
  2. Read the three check methods below and pick the one that suits you.
  3. Tick each step in the progress checklist as you complete it — your progress is saved on this device.
  4. Read the scam warning at the end so nobody can cheat you.

Method 1 — Check by SMS (8171)

  1. Open the SMS app on your mobile phone.
  2. Type your 13-digit CNIC number without any dashes or spaces.
  3. Send it to 8171.
  4. Wait for the reply. It will tell you if you are eligible and whether a payment has been released.

SMS replies can take a few minutes during busy days. Sending the SMS is free of any charge from BISP.

Method 2 — Check on the 8171 web portal

  1. Open the official 8171 web portal in your browser.
  2. Enter your 13-digit CNIC number in the given field.
  3. Type the captcha code exactly as shown in the image.
  4. Submit the form to see your eligibility and payment status on screen.

Use only the official 8171 portal. Never enter your CNIC on any other website that claims to check BISP payments.

Method 3 — Visit the nearest BISP tehsil office

  1. Find your nearest BISP tehsil office.
  2. Take your original CNIC with you.
  3. Ask the officer at the help desk to check your payment status.
  4. If you were never surveyed, ask about registering for the NSER survey.

Who is eligible

  • NSER survey: Your household must be registered through the National Socio-Economic Registry survey.
  • PMT score: Eligibility is decided by a Proxy Means Test score calculated from the survey data. Only households below the cut-off score qualify.
  • Kafalat programme: Eligible women receive quarterly cash payments through designated payment points.

Scam warning — read this carefully

  • Never pay anyone who promises to get your BISP payment released. BISP never charges any fee.
  • BISP never calls to ask for your bank details, OTP codes, or CNIC photo by phone or WhatsApp.
  • Do not share your CNIC number or payment messages with strangers.
  • Report fraud through the official BISP helpline or your nearest BISP office.

Note

This page is an information guide only. It does not process, track, release, or speed up BISP payments, and it has no link to the BISP database. Always use the official 8171 SMS service, the official 8171 web portal, or a BISP tehsil office for real status information, and stay alert against anyone asking for money or personal details.
