Estimate only. Real market prices vary with brand, model demand, city, documents and buyer interest. This is a starting point for negotiation, not an official valuation.
Depreciation curve used by this tool
The estimate is fully transparent. Every calculation on this page follows these fixed rules:
- Age depreciation (declining balance on remaining value): 12% in year 1, 10% per year in years 2 and 3, 8% per year in years 4 to 6, 5% per year after that.
- Condition adjustment: Excellent +5%, Good no change, Fair -10%.
- Mileage adjustment: compared with an average of 15,000 km per year of age; each 10,000 km above or below changes the value by 2%, capped at +15% / -15%.
- Value range: low to high is shown as plus or minus 10% around the estimated value.
Frequently asked questions
It estimates the current market value of a used car from four inputs: the price paid or the current new price of the same model, the car age in years, total mileage in kilometers, and the condition. The result is an estimate only, shown as a low-high value range.
It uses a fixed declining schedule shown on the page: 12% in year one, 10% in years two and three, 8% in years four to six, and 5% for each year after that, applied to the remaining value each year.
Excellent condition raises the estimated value by 5%, Good keeps the base value unchanged, and Fair lowers it by 10%. Condition means body, paint, interior, engine and tyre state compared with similar cars.
The tool compares your mileage with an average of 15,000 km per year of age. Every 10,000 km above or below that average lowers or raises the value by 2%, capped at plus or minus 15%.
Either works. The current new price of the same model gives a cleaner starting point because depreciation is applied from it, but if you do not know it, enter the price you paid.
