This is an estimate. Tape estimates vary about 5 to 10 percent from actual scale weight. Meat yield is an estimate of 50 to 55 percent of live weight and depends on the animal.
How to use
- Measure heart girth: run the tape around the chest just behind the front legs.
- Measure body length: from the point of shoulder to the pin bone.
- Enter both in inches, pick the animal type, and read the estimated live weight.
- Optional: enter the animal price to split the qurbani cost across 7 shares.
Note: Schaeffer formula = girth x girth x length / divisor. For qurbani cost splitting, the tool divides the entered price into 7 equal shares.
Tips
- Keep the tape snug but not tight, and take the girth reading while the animal stands square.
