CNIC Number Validator
Check the format of a Pakistani CNIC number in your browser. Enter the number with or without dashes, and see whether the 13-digit format is valid, what the province prefix means, and which gender digit it carries.
Dashes are optional — you can type 13 digits directly.

Number Breakdown
| Part | Digits | Position | Meaning |
|---|
CNIC Digit Structure
| Digits | Format | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Digit 1 | X | Province or territory code: 1 = Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 2 = FATA, 3 = Punjab, 4 = Sindh, 5 = Balochistan, 6 = Islamabad, 7 = Gilgit-Baltistan / Azad Kashmir |
| Digits 2–5 | XXXX | Division and district serial code. Only NADRA records map this to a specific district, so it is shown as a serial only. |
| Digits 6–12 | XXXXXXX | Family and personal serial number. |
| Digit 13 | X | Gender digit: odd = male, even = female. |
How to use
- Type the CNIC number into the input box, with dashes (35202-1234567-8) or without (3520212345678).
- Click Validate CNIC.
- Read the result: a valid format shows the formatted number plus a breakdown of every part.
- Use the Try a Sample button to see how the result looks.
Important notes
- Format check only. There is no publicly documented check-digit algorithm for CNIC numbers, so this tool checks the 13-digit structure — it does not invent a fake checksum.
- This tool cannot tell you whether a CNIC is genuine or issued by NADRA. For that, use NADRA SMS verification (send the number to 7000).
- The CNIC number itself does not store your date of birth. Age is not decoded here.
- Gender comes from the last digit: odd for male, even for female.
- Nothing is sent to any server — the check runs entirely in your browser.
