Comparing Fractions Calculator
Enter two to four fractions and see at a glance which is the largest and which is the smallest — the tool shows decimal values, sorts them in order and checks the result with cross multiplication, handy for homework and quick kitchen or workshop math.
—
How to use
- Enter the numerator (top) and denominator (bottom) of each fraction.
- The third and fourth fractions are optional — leave them empty and they will be skipped.
- The result will show decimal values, the ascending order and a cross multiplication check.
Note: The most reliable way to compare is cross multiplication: for a/b vs c/d, compare a x d and c x b — the side that is bigger is the bigger fraction.
Tips
- Cross multiplication is the reliable manual check: for a/b vs c/d compare a x d with c x b.
- For mixed numbers, convert to improper fractions first for a fair comparison.
- Denominators must not be zero — the tool skips empty fraction slots.
- Use decimals for a quick estimate, fractions for the exact answer.
