Entries are shown newest first. The balance column is the running balance of each customer after that entry.

How the ledger works

  • Credit given: you sold goods on credit. The customer balance goes up by the amount. This is the money the customer owes you.
  • Payment received: the customer paid you back, in full or in part. The customer balance goes down by the amount.
  • Running balance: each row shows the customer balance right after that entry, so you can follow the history of any account.
  • Total outstanding: the sum of all customer balances. This is the total credit money currently out in the market.

Everything is saved automatically in your browser storage, so your ledger is still here when you reopen this page on the same device and browser.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between credit given and payment received?

Credit given means you sold goods on credit, so the customer owes you more and their balance goes up. Payment received means the customer paid you back, so the balance they owe goes down.

Is my ledger data saved on this website?

No. All entries are stored only in your own browser storage on your own device. Nothing is uploaded to any server, and nobody else can see your data.

How do I see how much one customer owes me?

Use the customer filter above the table. It shows only that customer entries with their running balance, while the total outstanding across all customers stays visible in the summary cards at the top.

Can I move my data to another device or a spreadsheet?

Yes. Click Export CSV to download all entries as a spreadsheet file. You can open it in Excel or Google Sheets, keep it as a backup, or continue your records there.
