How to use
- Enter your total sales and marketing spend for the period (ads, salaries, tools).
- Enter how many new customers you gained in the same period.
- Optionally enter your customer lifetime value for the health check.
- Press Calculate CAC to see the cost per customer and a plain English verdict.
Formula: CAC = total sales and marketing spend ÷ new customers gained.
Tips
- Compare CAC with customer lifetime value — a ratio of 3 to 1 or better is healthy.
- Include all marketing salaries, not just ad spend, or the CAC will look falsely cheap.
- Track CAC per channel — one expensive channel often drags the average up.
- Referrals usually have the lowest CAC, so reward customers who bring friends.
