Decimal to Fraction Converter
Enter any decimal number — if digits repeat, enter how many digits repeat — and get the exact fraction in simplified form, with every step of the working shown.
How to use
- Enter a decimal number.
- If the last digits repeat again and again, enter how many repeat; otherwise leave it 0.
- The result will show the simplified fraction and all the steps.
Note: for terminating decimals the denominator is a power of 10. For repeating decimals the standard algebra method (the difference of x and 10x) is used.
Tips
- For a terminating decimal the denominator is a power of 10 (0.75 = 75/100 = 3/4).
- For repeating decimals enter the count of repeating digits — for 0.333… it is 1.
- The steps show the algebra used, so you can copy the working into homework.
