Verification Checklist — Suspicious Video
Tick each step as you check it. A video that fails several checks is very likely fake.
Common deepfake tells
- Unnatural blinking: no blinking at all, or blinks that are too fast or too rhythmic.
- Lip-sync mismatch: the mouth moves a fraction before or after the sound.
- Flickering edges: the face area shimmers or blurs where it meets hair and neck.
- Robotic voice: monotone delivery, strange emphasis, background sounds that vanish under the voice.
- Strange teeth and hands: merged fingers and blurry or misshapen teeth appear in many AI-generated clips.
If you find a deepfake
- Do not share it, even to warn others — sharing helps it spread.
- Report it on the platform where you saw it (most apps have a "False information" report option).
- If it harms someone you know, tell them and save evidence before it disappears.
