Derivative Calculator
Write the polynomial coefficients starting from the highest degree, separated by commas. For example for 3x³ − 5x + 2 write: 3, 0, -5, 2.
How to use
- Write coefficients in decreasing order of degree (the highest power of x first).
- Write 0 for any missing power in between.
- The power rule (d/dx xⁿ = n xⁿ⁻¹) is applied to each term and the steps are shown.
Note: This tool only works for polynomials and uses the power rule. Trig, log and exponential functions are not supported.
Tips
- Write coefficients in order from the highest power of x down to the constant term.
- Put 0 for any missing power — for x³ + 2x write 1, 0, 2, 0.
- The steps show the power rule on each term, useful for checking homework.
