Discount Slab Calculator

Set up your quantity discount tiers and see exactly what each customer pays. Enter a base price, define your slabs with a minimum quantity and discount percentage for each, then test any order quantity to find the applicable slab, the discounted unit price, the total bill, and how much the customer saves.

Step 1: Base price and order quantity

Rs
The normal selling price of one unit, with no discount applied.
How many units the customer wants to buy.

Step 2: Discount tiers

Each tier starts at its minimum quantity and stays valid until the next tier begins. The first tier should start at 1.

How slab pricing works

Slab (tiered) pricing rewards bigger orders: the more units a customer buys, the higher the discount percentage on every unit in the order. For example, with slabs of 1 unit at 0%, 10 units at 5%, and 50 units at 10%, an order of 60 units gets 10% off all 60 units.

The formula is simple: unit price = base price × (1 − discount ÷ 100), then total = unit price × quantity. Savings = (base price − unit price) × quantity.

  • Keep slabs few and round: 3 to 5 tiers with round quantities (10, 50, 100) are easier for customers to understand than 10 small ones.
  • Watch your margin: the deepest discount must still leave a profit after cost, delivery, and packaging.
  • Show the next slab: when a customer is close to the next tier, a small note like "add 3 more units for 5% extra off" can grow the order.

Frequently asked questions

How do I decide the discount for each slab?

Start from your profit margin per unit, then share a part of your savings from bulk handling. A common pattern is 3 to 5 percent per slab step, keeping the deepest slab above your break-even price.

Does the discount apply to all units or only the extra ones?

In the standard slab model used by this calculator, the discount percentage of the matched slab applies to every unit in the order, not just the units above the threshold.

What if the quantity falls between two tiers?

The order always falls into the highest tier whose minimum quantity is reached. An order of 60 units with tiers at 1, 50, and 100 uses the 50-unit slab.

Can I have a tier with 0 percent discount?

Yes. Make the first tier start at quantity 1 with 0 percent discount. That keeps small orders at full price while larger orders get the slab benefit.
