E-Challan Check Guide Pakistan

An e-challan is a digital traffic fine issued against your vehicle registration number, usually from cameras. Unpaid challans can block token tax renewal and transfer, so check your record regularly.

Punjab — PSCA (Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan and more)

The Punjab Safe Cities Authority runs the official portal. Use only the real government domain:

Open PSCA E-Challan Portal: echallan.psca.gop.pk

  1. Enter your vehicle registration (plate) number in the accepted format, for example LEA-19-1234.
  2. Enter the registered owner CNIC (13 digits, no dashes) or the vehicle chassis number.
  3. Complete the captcha and press Search.
  4. Review each challan: violation type, date, time, location, camera photo and fine amount.
  5. Note the 17-digit PSID (Payment Slip ID) shown with a payable challan — every payment channel asks for it.

Sindh / Karachi — TRACS system

Karachi and other Sindh districts use the Sindh Police TRACS faceless e-challan system:

Open Sindh Police E-Challan Portal: echallan.sindhpolice.gov.pk

  1. Enter your vehicle registration number or CNIC.
  2. View your challans: violation type, camera evidence, fine amount and status.
  3. Download or print the challan slip for payment or records.
  4. Pay using the payment reference (PSID) through JazzCash, Easypaisa, bank apps, 1Link, NADRA e-Sahulat or a traffic police office.

Islamabad — Islamabad Capital Territory Police

Islamabad traffic fines are issued by the Islamabad Traffic Police. Open the official site and find E-Challan Verification under Services:

Open Islamabad Police: islamabadpolice.gov.pk

  1. Go to islamabadpolice.gov.pk and open E-Challan Verification in the Services section.
  2. Enter your vehicle registration number or CNIC.
  3. Review the violation code, location, date and amount.
  4. Pay with the 1BILL PSID through any bank app, ATM, JazzCash, Easypaisa or an ICT Police kiosk.

National Highway and Motorway — NHMP

Violations on motorways (M-1, M-2, M-3, M-4, M-5) and national highways are handled by the National Highways and Motorway Police:

Open NHMP: nhmp.gov.pk

  1. Open the NHMP website and find the e-challan / online fine service section.
  2. Enter your CNIC or vehicle registration number and search.
  3. Check the violation details before paying.
  4. Pay with the 1BILL PSID through bank apps, ATMs or mobile wallets.
Beware of fake challan SMS. A genuine e-challan message never includes a payment link, an app download, a personal account number, or a request for your card number, wallet PIN or one-time code. If an SMS pressures you to pay within hours or asks for personal details, do not click or pay — go directly to the official portal above and check there.

Common traffic violations and typical fines

Search the table, or click any row for details. Fine amounts differ by province, vehicle type and enforcement drive, and schedules are revised over time — the amount printed on your actual challan is final, these figures are typical ranges only.

How to pay an e-challan

  • Use the PSID (Payment Slip ID) printed on your challan — this is the main payment reference.
  • Punjab: ePay Punjab app, JazzCash, Easypaisa, bank mobile apps, ATM (1Link) or a branch counter.
  • Karachi / Sindh: JazzCash, Easypaisa, Sindh Police portal with a debit or credit card, 1Link bank apps, NADRA e-Sahulat or a traffic police office.
  • Islamabad and Motorway: 1BILL PSID through bank apps, ATMs, JazzCash or Easypaisa.
  • Save the payment receipt. The system usually updates automatically, but keep proof in case of a dispute.

How to dispute a wrong challan

  • Do not pay first — payment usually closes the case. Verify the violation details and the camera photo on the official portal first.
  • Punjab: file a challan review request with the PSCA or visit a PSCA service center with your documents.
  • Karachi / Sindh: contact the Karachi Traffic Police facilitation channel with your challan number and evidence.
  • Islamabad: contact the Islamabad Traffic Police with your ticket details.
  • Keep screenshots of the portal record, the vehicle registration book and any photo evidence when you file the dispute.

Frequently asked questions

What do I need to check an e-challan?

Your vehicle registration (plate) number, plus your CNIC or chassis number on most portals. No account or signup is needed on the official portals.

Can I check a challan with only my CNIC?

Some portals support CNIC-based search, which can show challans linked to your registered vehicles. Others still require the plate number, so keep both ready.

What happens if I do not pay an e-challan?

The challan stays on your vehicle record. Unpaid challans can block token tax payment and ownership transfer, and in some cities traffic police run checkpoints against defaulters. Pay promptly to avoid further action.

Is the fine in the table on this page the amount I must pay?

No. The table shows typical ranges as a guide. Fines differ by province and change over time — the amount printed on your actual challan is the final figure.

How do I know the challan SMS I received is real?

A real message tells you a challan exists but never includes a payment link, an app to download, or a personal account number. If it asks for your card number, wallet PIN or a one-time code, it is fake — check the official portal directly instead.

Can I dispute a camera challan if the vehicle was not mine or was sold?

Yes, through the official dispute or review channel of the issuing authority. A buyer checking a used vehicle should search with the correct owner or chassis details, because records may still be linked to the previous registration.
