E-Stamp Verification Guide Punjab
Punjab has replaced old judicial stamp paper with computerized e-stamp papers. This guide explains how e-stamps are issued, how to verify them online, and how to spot fraud. Use the wizard below to run format checks on your stamp details and calculate stamp duty amounts.
How e-stamps are issued in Punjab
- Visit an e-stamp counter at designated Bank of Punjab branches or authorized agent locations, or start the process on the official e-stamping online portal.
- Provide the purpose of the stamp (for example property sale, rent agreement, affidavit), the transaction value, and details of the parties.
- The counter generates a unique serial number and a 16 digit stamp number linked to your CNIC and the transaction.
- Pay the stamp duty at the bank counter. The e-stamp paper is printed on secure paper with a QR code, a watermark and micro-text security features.
- Keep the customer receipt; it proves the payment trail if the e-stamp itself is questioned later.
How to verify an e-stamp online
- Open the official Punjab e-stamping verification portal or the e-stamping mobile app.
- Enter the stamp number / serial number printed on the e-stamp paper.
- Optionally scan the QR code on the e-stamp with your phone; it should open the same portal record.
- Confirm that the amount, date, parties and purpose shown on the portal match exactly what is printed on the paper.
- If the portal shows no record, or the details do not match, treat the e-stamp as suspicious and do not proceed with the transaction.
The format checks on this page are sanity checks only. They cannot prove an e-stamp is genuine. Only the official verification portal confirms validity.

Fraud red flags
| Red flag | Why it is suspicious |
|---|---|
| Serial number missing or does not follow the format | Every genuine e-stamp has a structured serial number linked to a portal record. |
| No QR code, or the QR code does not scan | Genuine e-stamps carry a printed QR code that opens the official record. |
| Portal shows no record for the serial number | A missing record is the strongest signal that the paper is not genuine. |
| Amount on paper differs from the portal amount | Genuine e-stamps always match the portal record exactly. |
| Plain paper without security features | E-stamps are printed on secure paper with a watermark and micro-text. |
| No bank payment receipt | Duty is paid at an authorized counter; no receipt means no payment trail. |
| Names, dates or purpose altered by hand | Any manual correction on an e-stamp should be treated as tampering. |
| Old style judicial stamp paper still in use | Old stamp paper has been phased out in Punjab; its use for new transactions is not valid. |
E-stamp vs old stamp paper
| Feature | E-stamp (current) | Old stamp paper |
|---|---|---|
| Issuance | Bank counters and online portal | Sold by licensed stamp vendors |
| Serial record | Central computerized record with unique serial number | Manual registers; records often missing or incomplete |
| Verification | Online portal and QR code scan | No reliable online verification |
| Fraud risk | Lower; portal record can be checked instantly | Higher; forgery was common |
| Denominations | Any amount can be printed as needed | Fixed denominations; multiple papers combined for odd amounts |
| Status in Punjab | Required for new transactions | Phased out; not valid for new use |
