Fabric Weight Converter
Fabric shops quote cloth weight in GSM, while patterns and suppliers often use ounces per square yard. Type a value once and this converter shows it in both units instantly — so you can compare fabrics and follow any pattern with confidence.

How to use
- Type the fabric weight value in the input box.
- Choose the From unit (GSM or ounces per square yard) — the result updates live.
- Check the converted values in all units shown below.
- Match the GSM to your project: lighter GSM for shirts and linings, heavier for denim and canvas.
Tips
- Quilting cotton is usually around 120–150 GSM; denim starts near 200 GSM and climbs from there.
- A few GSM either way will not matter for most projects — fabric feel matters more than the exact number.
- When a pattern gives only one unit, convert it before buying so you get the right weight.
Note: 1 oz per square yard = 33.9057 GSM.
