Protecting Important Documents
- Keep CNICs, passports, property papers, B-Forms and bank documents in a sealed waterproof pouch or double zip-lock bag.
- Scan or photograph every important document and store copies on your phone and in a free cloud account.
- Keep a written list of phone numbers of family members and nearby officials with the documents.
- Place the pouch high up in the house (on top of a wardrobe) and make sure every adult in the family knows where it is.
Protecting Livestock (Rural Areas)
- Move animals to higher ground as soon as a flood warning is issued — never wait for the water to reach the village.
- Store 3 to 5 days of dry fodder (toori, wanda, hay) above ground level before the monsoon starts.
- Keep drinking water for animals in raised containers; flood water is unsafe for livestock.
- Arrange with a relative or neighbour on high ground who can shelter your animals if you must evacuate quickly.
- Mark animals with a safe, visible ID tag or paint mark so lost animals can be identified later.

Good to know
- This checklist is guidance only — always follow the instructions of Rescue 1122, the district administration and official weather alerts.
- Never drive or walk through flood water. As little as 15 cm of fast-moving water can knock a person down.
- Turn off gas and electricity at the main switches before leaving a flooded house.
- Boil drinking water or use chlorine tablets after the flood until officials confirm the supply is safe.
