Fraction Simplifier
Reduce any fraction to its lowest terms with the Euclidean GCD steps shown. Enter the numerator and denominator — see each step of the simplification and the mixed number for improper fractions.
How to use
- Enter the numerator and denominator.
- See the GCD steps and the simplified result; an improper fraction also shows the mixed number.
- For an improper fraction, read the mixed number shown below — the whole part and the remainder are listed separately.
Note: The GCD is found with the Euclidean algorithm: keep dividing the big number by the small number and taking the remainder until the remainder is 0.
Tips
- If both numbers share no common factor, the fraction is already simplified.
- Negative signs belong on the numerator — keep the denominator positive.
- Practise the Euclidean steps here, then try them by hand for exams.
