Monthly total = daily cost × days per month. Currency is shown in Rs; replace the tariff numbers with your own bill rates for an accurate result.

How to use

  1. Check your heater: the wattage is usually printed on a label on the heater body. For gas, use the consumption figure from the manual, or the typical 0.3 to 0.6 m³ per hour range.
  2. Find your tariffs: electricity rate per unit from your latest electricity bill, and gas price from your latest gas bill (SNGPL / SSGC bills show price per MMBTU; 1 MMBTU is about 28 cubic meters).
  3. Enter how many hours per day and how many days per month you expect to run the heater.
  4. Compare the per-hour and per-month costs, then read the verdict for the cheaper option.

Tips

  • Electricity rates rise with higher slabs, so heavy heater use can push you into a costlier slab.
  • Gas heaters warm a room faster, but never run one in a closed room without ventilation.
  • Cutting daily usage hours usually saves more than switching fuel types.

Note: This is an estimate. Real bills also include fixed charges, meter rent, taxes and slab changes as usage rises, so your actual cost can be higher. Heaters warm rooms differently, so also consider comfort and safety, not only price.
