How to use
- List every ingredient used in one batch with its cost.
- Add your labor hours, hourly rate, packaging and overhead.
- Enter how many items one batch makes and your target profit margin.
- Your recommended selling price per item appears instantly.
Tips
- Track ingredient prices monthly — flour, butter and sugar prices move, and your price should follow.
- A 25 to 35% margin is typical for home bakeries; below 20% you are likely undercharging your labor.
- Compare your final price with local bakeries, but do not copy them — your costs are different.
Note: Price = cost / (1 - margin). A 30% margin on a 100 cost means a price of about 143, because profit is measured against the selling price, not the cost. This is the standard retail pricing method.
