HTML Entity Encoder Decoder
Turn special characters such as angle brackets, quotes and ampersands into HTML entities so code and symbols display correctly on a web page — or decode entities back to plain text with one click.
How to use
- Paste the text or code snippet.
- Click Encode to make it safe to display in HTML, or Decode to turn entities back into characters.
- Copy the output.
Tips
- Encode a code snippet before pasting it into a CMS or blog post so it displays correctly.
- Tick the numeric-entities option when your text has accented characters or symbols.
- Always re-encode after you edit the source text, not the encoded output.
- Decoding turns entities back to characters — handy when cleaning up copied web text.
Note: Encoding the five core characters (ampersand, angle brackets and both quote types) prevents broken markup and most accidental HTML injection in snippets.
