Keyboard Test Online

Press every key on your keyboard to check that it works. Each pressed key lights up on the visual keyboard below, held keys show a warning if they stay down too long, and the details panel shows exactly what signal each key sends.

How to use

  1. Click anywhere on this page so it has keyboard focus.
  2. Press every key on your keyboard, one by one.
  3. Watch the visual keyboard: each tested key turns green.
  4. Any key that never lights up is not sending a signal.

Note: Some special keys, such as the Windows or Command key and media keys, may be captured by the operating system and will not reach the browser. That is normal and does not mean they are broken.

Tips

  • Test keys one at a time so you can tell exactly which key lit up.
  • Hold a key down: it stays blue while held and warns you if it looks stuck.
  • Use Reset Test to start a fresh round after cleaning or reconnecting the keyboard.
  • On laptops, also test keys combined with Fn if the top row has dual functions.
