Open Source License Generator
Every public project needs a license that tells others what they may do with the code. Pick MIT, Apache 2.0 or GPL-3.0, fill in your name and year, and download a ready-to-use LICENSE file for your repository.
How to use
- Choose a license: MIT is the most permissive, Apache 2.0 adds a patent grant, GPL-3.0 requires derivatives to stay open.
- Enter the year and the copyright holder name.
- Copy the text or download the LICENSE file and place it in your project root.
Note
This tool generates standard license texts for convenience. It is not legal advice — for complex licensing questions, consult a lawyer. For GPL projects you may also want to add the license header to each source file.
