Long Division Calculator
Enter the dividend and divisor to see school-style long division worked out step by step: divide, multiply, subtract and bring down, one digit at a time. It shows the quotient, remainder and every intermediate stage.
How to use
- Enter two whole numbers (steps are cleaner when the dividend is bigger or equal).
- Each step shows the partial dividend, quotient digit and remainder.
- You also get the decimal answer at the end.
Tips
- Follow the four-step rhythm: divide, multiply, subtract, bring down — repeat for each digit.
- If the divisor is larger than the dividend, the quotient is 0 with the dividend as remainder.
- Use the worked steps to check homework, then redo one step on paper to lock in the method.
Note: If the dividend is smaller than the divisor, the quotient is 0 and the remainder is the dividend; the decimal calculation still shows.
