What the guidance bands mean
- 90% and above: very strong. Highly competitive programs (MBBS, top engineering) are in realistic reach — but apply to 4-5 colleges anyway.
- 80-90%: strong. Good chances in engineering, CS, business and many medical-adjacent programs depending on the college.
- 70-80%: decent. Target good mid-tier colleges, consider evening/self-finance options and apply widely.
- 60-70%: limited. Focus on colleges with lower closing merits, diploma or associate programs, and retake the entry test if possible.
- Below 60%: tough for merit seats. Look at private colleges, diploma programs, skill courses, or improving your marks first.
