Negative Marking Score Calculator
Entry tests like MDCAT and ECAT cut marks for wrong answers — guessing can cost you. Enter your totals, set the marks and penalty to match your test's pattern, and see your real final score with percentage and grade.
How to use
- Enter the total, and the correct and wrong counts.
- Set marks per question and penalty as per your test (they are editable).
- Skipped questions are calculated on their own — no penalty on them.
Note: Default values (4 marks per question, 1 mark penalty) are common in many entry tests, but every test has its own pattern — MDCAT, ECAT etc. have their own pattern. Rates change — verify with the official source before relying on this.
Tips
- The defaults (4 marks, 1 mark penalty) are editable — set them to your test's official pattern.
- Skipped questions carry no penalty, so a blank is always safer than a wild guess.
- If you can eliminate even one wrong option, the math of guessing improves — decide before the test, not during it.
- Double-check your counts add up: correct + wrong + skipped should equal total questions.
