Understanding the scores
- Flesch Reading Ease: a score from 0 to 100. Higher means easier. Scores of 60 to 70 are plain, standard English; scores above 80 are very easy to read.
- Flesch-Kincaid Grade: the US school grade level needed to understand the text. Grade 8 means a 13 to 14 year old student can read it comfortably.
- Gunning Fog Index: the years of formal education a person needs to understand the text on first reading. Below 12 is ideal for general audiences.
- Scores are estimates based on sentence and syllable patterns, not a judgment of your content quality.
