Display Refresh Rate Test
Find out your screen refresh rate in Hz. Click Run Test and watch the animated bar for 3 seconds — the tool counts rendered frames and reports your measured refresh rate. No downloads, no account.
Measured refresh rate
Press Run Test to measure your display.
The bar should glide smoothly. On 120 Hz and 144 Hz displays it looks noticeably smoother than on 60 Hz.
Reading your result
- 60 Hz — standard rate for most laptops, monitors and phones.
- 90 / 120 Hz — high refresh; scrolling and animations look smoother.
- 144 Hz and above — gaming class; the smoothest motion available.
- If your monitor supports 144 Hz but this test shows 60 Hz, check your display settings — your system may be running it at a lower rate.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How does this refresh rate test measure Hz?
It uses requestAnimationFrame to count how many frames the browser renders during a 3-second window, then divides frames by elapsed seconds to give the measured refresh rate in Hz.
Why does my result change slightly between runs?
Small timing jitter from background apps and vsync can shift the result by about 1 Hz. That is normal — a steady 60, 120 or 144 across runs means your display is working fine.
What do 60, 90, 120 and 144 Hz mean?
60 Hz is the standard rate for most screens. 90 and 120 Hz are high-refresh phones and monitors with visibly smoother motion. 144 Hz and above is the gaming class with the smoothest motion.
Which browsers support the test?
Any modern browser with requestAnimationFrame works, including Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on desktop and mobile.
Is this test free?
Yes, it is free, runs entirely on your device, and needs no account or download.
