  2. Enter the number of tour days, including travel days as your department counts them.
  3. Enter the road mileage travelled in your own car in kilometres. If the tour was by public transport, set mileage to zero and claim the fare separately with your department.
  4. Check the mileage rate and daily allowance rate. Type new values if your department uses notified rates that differ from the defaults.
  5. Press Calculate TA DA to see the daily allowance total, the mileage total and the grand total.

Frequently asked questions

TA means travelling allowance, paid for the journey to and from the duty station, usually on a mileage basis when using a personal car. DA means daily allowance, paid for each day spent on official tour to cover food and hotel expenses.

Daily allowance depends on the BPS pay band. Senior grades get a higher daily rate than junior grades. The calculator multiplies the number of tour days by the daily rate for the selected grade band.
