What is nisab?
Nisab is the minimum amount of wealth a Muslim must own for Zakat to become due. This calculator uses the silver nisab, which is the value of 52.5 tola of silver. Silver is used because it sets a lower threshold, which means more people become eligible to give, which helps more people in need. If your net zakatable wealth is at or above nisab, 2.5 percent is due.
How to use
- Enter cash in hand, bank balance, trade goods and investments in PKR.
- Enter gold and silver in tola. Check the price per tola boxes and update them with the market rate of the day.
- Enter your debts and any basic living expenses that are due, then press Calculate Zakat.
- Read the verdict, the zakatable wealth, the nisab and the Zakat payable, and review the breakdown table.
Please note: gold and silver prices change daily, so verify the per tola rate before you calculate. This tool gives an estimate based on standard rules. For edge cases such as business stock, long term loans or joint ownership, consult a qualified scholar before you pay.
