What do DPI and PPI mean
- DPI (dots per inch) is used in printing — it tells the printer how many ink dots to place per inch of paper.
- PPI (pixels per inch) is used for screens and images — it tells how many image pixels fit in one inch.
- For this calculator the math is the same: print size in inches = pixels divided by DPI.
- 300 DPI is the standard for sharp photo prints. 150 DPI is fine for posters viewed from a distance. 72 to 96 is typical for screens only.
How to use
- Choose a mode: "Pixels to Print Size" or "Print Size to Pixels".
- Enter your pixel dimensions and DPI, or your print size, unit and DPI.
