Screen PPI and DPI Calculator
Enter your screen resolution in pixels and the diagonal screen size in inches. Get the PPI, pixel pitch, aspect ratio, total megapixels, and the print sizes your resolution can produce at 300 and 150 DPI.
| Quality | Print width | Print height |
|---|---|---|
| 300 DPI (high-quality photo print) | — | — |
| 150 DPI (large print / poster) | — | — |
- Enter your screen details and press Calculate PPI.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How is screen PPI calculated from resolution and screen size?
PPI is the diagonal resolution in pixels divided by the diagonal screen size in inches. The tool computes the diagonal pixel count with the Pythagorean theorem, for example a 1920 by 1080 screen has a diagonal of about 2203 pixels, and divides it by the diagonal size you enter in inches.
What is pixel pitch and how does the tool compute it?
Pixel pitch is the physical distance between the centers of two adjacent pixels, measured in millimeters. The tool computes it as 25.4 divided by the PPI, since one inch equals 25.4 millimeters. A smaller pixel pitch means a sharper screen.
What does the Use my screen button do?
The button reads your device screen resolution from the browser and fills the width and height fields automatically, for example 1920 by 1080. It cannot detect the diagonal size in inches, so you still enter that manually from your screen specification.
What print sizes will my screen resolution support?
Print width and height in inches are computed as pixels divided by DPI. The tool shows the print size at 300 DPI for high-quality photo prints and at 150 DPI for large prints, in both inches and centimeters, so you can see exactly how large an image your screen resolution can produce on paper.
Is my screen resolution or any other data stored?
No. All calculations run in your browser with JavaScript and nothing is uploaded or stored. The values you type stay on your device.
