Frequently asked questions
How is car import duty calculated in Pakistan?
Duty is charged in bands based on engine size in cc, applied to the assessed CIF value of the vehicle. Larger engines attract much higher rates. This calculator applies those bands, plus regulatory duty and other charges, as an illustrative estimate.
Can I import a used car that is more than five years old?
Generally no. Under the commonly used import schemes, used vehicles older than five years are not allowed. The calculator applies a depreciation factor for ages up to five years only.
Does the estimate include sales tax and registration?
No. The estimate covers customs duty, regulatory duty and other charges. Sales tax, withholding tax, excise and registration are charged separately in Pakistan.
Are these duty rates official?
No. The duty bands used here are simplified illustrative estimates. Actual duties are set by FBR and Pakistan Customs and can change, so verify the final amount with a customs agent.
