FBR POS Invoice Verification Guide
Learn what a proper FBR point-of-sale invoice looks like, run a quick self-check on your receipt, and find out how to verify it through the official FBR channel.
Important: This page is an informational self-check only — it cannot confirm an invoice with FBR. Only the official FBR channel can do that.
Invoice self-check
Keep your receipt in front of you. Type what is printed on it, tick what you can see, then press "Run self-check".
Enter the invoice details above and press "Run self-check".
What a proper FBR POS invoice looks like
- Seller identity: the shop or restaurant name plus its STRN (Sales Tax Registration Number).
- FBR invoice number: a unique number for this sale, different from the shop's own bill number.
- QR code: a printed code you can scan to open the invoice record in the official FBR channel.
- Date and time: when the sale happened.
- Item list: each item with its price, sales tax shown as its own line, and the final total.
Why it matters for you
- A proper invoice proves the sales tax you paid is recorded with FBR, not just kept by the shop.
- It is your proof of purchase if you need a refund, exchange or warranty claim.
- FBR has run prize schemes for verified POS invoices in the past — check the current official announcement to see if one is active.
If a shop refuses to give a proper invoice
- Ask clearly for an FBR invoice with the QR code — many shops print a proper one only when asked.
- Note the shop name, address and any STRN shown on whatever receipt they give you.
- Report the shop through the official FBR complaint channel, giving the details you noted.
- Consider shopping at sellers who issue proper invoices — your money should come with proof.
How to use this guide
- Keep your receipt and run the self-check above — it validates the format of the invoice number and STRN and flags anything missing.
- Compare your receipt against the "proper invoice" list to see what a complete one looks like.
- For real confirmation, verify through the official FBR channel: the FBR Tax Asaan app or the FBR website verification option — scan the QR code or enter the invoice details there. App features change, so confirm the current verification option on the official channel.
- If something is missing, follow the steps in "If a shop refuses to give a proper invoice".
This is an informational guide, not an official FBR tool and not tax advice. The self-check only tests formats and visible items — it cannot confirm that an invoice is registered with FBR. Verification steps and app features change over time, so always use the official FBR channel for the final word.
