How the calculation works
- Monthly: profit is added to the balance every month at the yearly rate divided by 12.
- Quarterly: profit is added every 3 months at the yearly rate divided by 4.
- At maturity: simple profit is paid once at the end: amount x rate x years.
Important: This calculator does not know any bank current rate and shows no official figures. Bank profit rates change often, so always confirm the current rate with your bank before opening a fixed deposit.
Frequently asked questions
It works out the maturity value of a fixed deposit from four inputs: the deposit amount in rupees, the yearly profit rate you enter, the term in months or years, and the compounding choice.
Monthly compounding grows profit on the running balance twelve times a year, quarterly does it four times a year, and at maturity pays simple profit once at the end of the term. Monthly compounding gives the highest maturity value for the same rate and term.
Bank profit rates change often and differ from bank to bank. This tool has no fixed rate built in, so you must enter the rate your bank currently offers. Always confirm the current rate with your bank before making a decision.
Effective annual yield shows what the deposit actually earns per year once compounding is included. It is usually slightly higher than the entered yearly profit rate when profit is compounded monthly or quarterly.
Yes. Run the calculation with the first deposit amount, rate, term and compounding choice, note the maturity value, then change the inputs and run it again to compare.
