Tips to cut your gas geyser bill
- Run the geyser only when you need hot water. Leaving it on all day wastes gas keeping water hot between uses.
- Use a medium flame setting. A very high flame heats water only slightly faster but burns much more gas.
- Insulate exposed hot water pipes so heat is not lost on the way to the tap.
- Get the burner serviced before winter. A yellow, lazy flame wastes gas; a clean burner burns blue and efficient.
- Fix dripping hot water taps. A slow drip can waste hundreds of litres of heated water a month.
- Keep total household gas use in mind. Stoves and heaters share the same slabs, so high combined usage pushes everything into higher rates.
- If your area has low gas pressure in winter, an electric rod is a backup, but Sui gas usually stays cheaper per unit of heat.

- How much gas does a gas geyser use per hour?
- A standard 30,000 BTU per hour geyser uses about 0.86 cubic metres of gas per hour (0.0086 HM3). At 4 hours a day for 30 days, that is about 103 cubic metres, or just over 1 HM3 per month.
- What is HM3 on a Sui gas bill?
- HM3 stands for hundred cubic metres. 1 HM3 equals 100 cubic metres of natural gas, roughly 3.5 MMBTU of energy. SNGPL and SSGC use HM3 slabs to set your gas rate.
- Is a gas geyser cheaper than an electric geyser in Pakistan?
