Minimum prices are based on the hours in the gig. The buffer column adds your safety margin on top.

The formula used

  1. Effective hourly rate = (Target income + Monthly costs) / Billable hours. This is what you must actually keep per hour to hit your goal.
  2. Listed price = Effective hourly rate / (1 - Platform fee %). The platform takes its cut from the listed price, so you must list higher to keep your rate.
  3. Platform fee amount = Listed price x Platform fee %.
  4. Recommended listed price = Listed price x (1 + Buffer %). The buffer protects you from unpaid revisions and extra rounds of feedback.

How to use

  1. Enter your target monthly income, monthly business costs and billable hours.
  2. Select your platform or enter a custom fee percentage.
  3. Click "Calculate Prices" and use the listed prices when quoting clients.

Tips

  • Count only hours you can actually bill — admin, learning and marketing time do not earn directly.
  • If your effective rate is below your costs coverage, raise your hours or your income target before lowering prices.
  • Never price below the listed hourly price on Fiverr or Upwork — the fee is real and you will feel it.
  • Keep the 10% buffer until your costs are stable for at least three months.
