Gold Making Charges Calculator
The gold rate is only part of what you pay — wastage and making charges can add a surprising amount. Enter weight, today's rate and the jeweller's charges to see the full breakdown before you agree to the price.
Jewellers usually add 4–10% wastage for making loss.
Enter 0 if the jeweller charges a flat amount.

How to use
- Weigh the jewellery (or ask the jeweller for the exact weight in tola).
- Enter today's gold rate per tola — ask the jeweller or check a market update.
- Enter the wastage percentage and the making charges the jeweller is charging.
- Press Calculate Price to see the metal cost, wastage cost, making charges and the total separately.
Note: The estimate uses the rate and charges you enter, so update them with today's market rate for an accurate result. Jewellers may add tax or other small charges — ask for a written bill showing weight, rate, wastage and making separately.
Tips
- Always get the bill itemised: metal cost, wastage, making charges and tax on separate lines.
- Wastage on simple designs is often negotiable — ask what percentage they applied and why.
- Update the rate field with today's market rate; yesterday's rate can be hundreds of rupees off per tola.
- Compare the total making plus wastage across two or three jewellers before deciding.
