Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Why does the GPS speedometer need location permission?
Speed is measured from your device GPS position updates. Without location permission the browser blocks GPS access and no speed can be shown.
Does this speedometer work on a desktop computer?
Only if the computer has GPS hardware, which most desktops do not. On a device without GPS the tool shows a waiting state. It works best on a smartphone with GPS turned on.
How accurate is the GPS speed reading?
With a clear view of the sky, GPS speed is usually accurate within 1 to 2 km/h. Accuracy drops indoors, in tunnels or in dense city areas. This tool is not a replacement for a calibrated vehicle speedometer.
Why does the speed show a waiting message instead of a number?
A first GPS fix can take up to a minute. Stay outdoors with location turned on, keep the page open, and wait for the status to change to tracking before moving.
Is my location data sent to a server?
No. Every reading is processed on your device in the browser. No location data is uploaded, stored or shared.
