Inverter AC Savings Calculator

Decide whether an inverter AC is worth its higher price. Enter your AC size, daily usage hours, and electricity rate to compare monthly bills for both types - and see exactly how many months it takes to recover the extra cost.

How to use

  1. Select your AC tonnage and how many hours it runs each day.
  2. Enter your electricity rate per unit (from your bill) and the extra price you would pay for an inverter model.
  3. Monthly bills for both types, your saving, and the payback period appear instantly.

Tips

  • Get your per-unit rate from your latest electricity bill, not the advertised slab - taxes and surcharges change the real number.
  • Inverters save most when the room stays cool and the compressor ramps down; constant full-blast use erases the advantage.
  • Run the numbers for your actual daily hours - 4 hours versus 12 hours gives very different payback periods.
  • A payback under 2-3 cooling seasons usually makes the inverter the smarter buy.

Note: Model uses typical average running power — inverter 1.5 ton: 1.15 kW, non-inverter 1.5 ton: 1.80 kW (scaled by tonnage). Inverters save mainly by ramping down once the room is cool; if you run the AC only at full blast or in a poorly insulated room, actual savings will be lower. 30 days per month assumed.
