The monthly payment stays the same, but the split between principal and interest changes every month. Formula used: M = P × r × (1 + r)n ÷ ((1 + r)n − 1).
How to use
- Enter the loan amount in Rs — the total you want to borrow.
- Enter the annual interest rate (%) offered by the bank.
- Enter the loan term in years (for example 10, 15 or 20).
- The monthly payment, total interest and total payment appear instantly, with the first 12 months of the amortization schedule below.
Tips
- Even a 1% lower interest rate can save a large amount over a 15 or 20 year loan — compare offers before you sign.
- A shorter term means a higher monthly payment but far less total interest.
- Keep the monthly payment under one third of your monthly income for a comfortable budget.
- Ask your bank about processing fees and insurance, which are not part of this calculation.
