NTN Number Validator

Type an NTN below. This tool checks whether the number follows the correct Pakistan FBR National Tax Number format: exactly 7 digits. Spaces and dashes are removed automatically before checking.

You can paste the number with spaces or dashes — they are removed automatically.
Important: This tool checks the format of the number only (that it has exactly 7 digits). It does not verify whether the NTN actually exists in FBR records. To confirm a real NTN, check it on the official FBR website or through the FBR helpline.
Note for individuals: Individual taxpayers in Pakistan generally do not get a separate 7-digit NTN. For an individual, the 13-digit CNIC number works as the NTN for tax purposes. The 7-digit NTN format is used by companies, associations of persons (AOPs) and businesses.

What is an NTN?

NTN stands for National Tax Number. It is a unique identification number issued by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) of Pakistan to taxpayers. Businesses, companies and associations of persons use this number on invoices, tax returns and official documents so that the FBR can track their tax payments.

For companies and businesses, an NTN has exactly 7 digits (for example 1234567). For individuals, the 13-digit CNIC issued by NADRA works as the tax number, so individuals usually do not need a separate NTN.

Getting an NTN right matters because banks, government offices and other businesses often ask for it before opening an account, awarding a contract or registering a company.

Format rules checked by this tool

  • Spaces and dashes are stripped first, so "123-4567" becomes "1234567".
  • Every remaining character must be a digit (0 to 9). Letters or symbols are rejected.
  • The cleaned number must be exactly 7 digits — no more, no less.
  • Every failed check shows a clear reason so you know what to fix.

Not necessarily. A number can have the correct 7-digit format but still be cancelled, suspended or never registered. Format validity and registration status are two different things.
