How it works
- Enter your last basic pay, total years of qualifying service, and age at retirement.
- Gross pension = 70% of last basic pay for 30+ years of service; less than 30 years gets a pro-rata share (service years divided by 30, times 70%).
- Up to 35% of gross pension can be commuted: the lump sum equals 35% of the monthly pension times 12 times the commutation factor for your age.
- Net monthly pension = gross pension minus the commuted 35%.
Simplified commutation factor table
| Age | 60 | 61 | 62 | 63 | 64 | 65 | 66 | 67 | 68 | 69 | 70 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Factor | 12.37 | 11.77 | 11.19 | 10.62 | 10.07 | 9.54 | 9.03 | 8.55 | 8.10 | 7.67 | 7.26 |
Factors are simplified for illustration. If your age is below 60 the age-60 factor is used; above 70 the age-70 factor is used.
