How to read the result
- Weekly pay = your regular schedule pay plus any overtime pay at the chosen multiplier.
- Monthly pay uses 4.33 weeks per month (52 weeks ÷ 12), which is more accurate than assuming 4 weeks.
- Effective hourly rate = total pay ÷ total hours worked (including overtime). It shows what you really earn per hour once overtime premiums are blended in — useful for comparing two job offers.
- All figures are gross pay before any tax or deductions. If your employer withholds tax, subtract that from the result for take-home pay.
Why part-time pay math surprises people
Part-time offers are usually quoted per hour or per day, which makes two jobs hard to compare. A Rs 400/hour job at 4 hours a day can pay less per month than a Rs 300/hour job at 6 hours a day — the schedule matters as much as the rate.
- Always convert to weekly and monthly pay before accepting an offer. Employers quote the most flattering number.
- Overtime premiums add up fast. At time-and-a-half, 5 extra hours a week is like 7.5 regular hours of pay.
- Watch unpaid time. Long commutes or unpaid breaks lower your effective hourly rate. This calculator helps you see the real number when you include all hours.
- Confirm the pay cycle. Weekly pay, fortnightly pay, and monthly pay all feel different for budgeting — use the monthly figure here for your expense planning.
Before signing, also confirm the things this calculator cannot know: whether the rate includes any holiday pay, who pays for transport, and how overtime is actually approved and recorded.
Frequently asked questions
How do you calculate monthly pay from a weekly wage?
Multiply the weekly pay by 4.33, because a year has 52 weeks and 52 divided by 12 is 4.33. Using 4 weeks underestimates monthly income by about 8 percent.
What is an overtime multiplier?
The multiplier sets how much more overtime hours pay compared to normal hours. A multiplier of 1.5 (time-and-a-half) means each overtime hour pays 1.5 times the normal rate; 2 means double time.
How is the effective hourly rate calculated?
Total pay for the week divided by total hours worked that week, including overtime hours. It blends the overtime premium into one number so you can compare job offers fairly.
Does this calculator include taxes?
No. All results are gross pay before tax and other deductions. Subtract any withholding your employer applies to estimate your take-home pay.
