Teacher Pay Scale Calculator Pakistan
Estimate a government teacher's salary on the BPS (Basic Pay Scale) system. Pick your scale and stage (step), choose the allowances you receive, and get a breakdown of basic pay, allowances, gross monthly salary, and annual pay — a practical planning figure, not an official payslip.
Allowances (tick the ones you receive)
Basic pay figures use representative 2022 revised scales. Actual payslips vary by province, department, and notification. Treat the result as a planning estimate.

| Component | Amount (Rs / month) |

| Gross monthly salary | — |
How to read the result
- Basic pay = scale minimum + (step − 1) × annual increment. Each completed year of service normally adds one increment.
- House rent allowance is computed here on the minimum of your scale, which is how the government commonly calculates it, then multiplied by your chosen percentage.
- Adhoc relief is computed on your actual basic pay at the current step, which is why it grows as your step increases.
- The annual figure is a simple 12× projection of the monthly gross. It does not include deductions such as income tax, pension contribution, or group insurance — check your payslip for those.
Why BPS stage matters for teachers
Pakistan's government teachers are paid on the Basic Pay Scale system, where each scale has a minimum salary, a maximum, and a fixed annual increment. Your stage (step) is simply where you stand between the minimum and the maximum — step 1 is the scale minimum, and every year of service usually moves you one step up until you hit the ceiling.
Two teachers in the same scale can take home very different salaries: a BPS-14 teacher at step 3 earns noticeably less than one at step 20, because basic pay compounds with the increment and percentage-based allowances (adhoc relief) are calculated on that basic pay.
- Promotion moves you to a higher scale with a higher minimum and increment.
- Time-scale upgradation in some provinces moves long-serving teachers one scale up without a post change.
- Annual budget often revises the minimums and adds new adhoc relief percentages, which is why payslips change each July.
This calculator uses representative 2022 revised figures for BPS-9 through BPS-17. Always confirm the current scale table with your district accounts office before signing anything based on the estimate.
Frequently asked questions
Which BPS scales apply to teachers in Pakistan?
Primary school teachers usually start at BPS-9, elementary school teachers around BPS-11 or BPS-12, secondary school teachers at BPS-16, and lecturers at BPS-17. Scales can differ by province and recruitment policy.
Are these salary figures exact?
No. They are planning estimates based on representative 2022 revised scales. Provinces issue their own notifications, and actual payslips include deductions such as income tax and pension contribution. Use the result to budget, not as an official figure.
How is house rent allowance calculated?
Government practice is to calculate house rent as a percentage of the minimum of your pay scale, not of your current basic pay. This calculator follows that practice: it multiplies your chosen percentage by the scale minimum.
What is adhoc relief allowance?
Adhoc relief is a percentage-based allowance announced in the annual budget, calculated on basic pay. The percentage changes from year to year, which is why the calculator lets you set it yourself — 35 percent is a common recent value.
