Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How does the credit card payoff planner calculate my payoff date?

It runs a month-by-month simulation: each month your card is charged interest at APR divided by 12, then your payment covers that interest and reduces the balance. It counts the months until the balance reaches zero and adds them to the current date to give the payoff month and year.

What does the yearly amortization table show?

For every year of the plan the table shows how much principal you paid, how much interest you paid and the balance still remaining at the end of that year, so you can see your progress over time.

What is the extra payment comparison?

Enter an optional extra monthly amount and the planner shows a second scenario next to your plan: how many months sooner you become debt-free and how much total interest you save by paying that extra amount each month.

What happens if my monthly payment is too low?

If your payment does not cover the monthly interest charge, the balance never falls. The planner shows a warning and tells you the minimum payment needed to start making progress.

Is the credit card payoff planner free to use?

Yes, it is free, needs no signup and runs entirely in your browser, so your numbers never leave your device.
